snow farm vineyard ii

Snow Farm Vineyard was one of my best discoveries last summer. We finally made it back there last week for that golden hour of sunlight — and a few glasses of wine, of course. You can hear live music on the grass every Thursday, and I'm already plotting a return trip.

mt. philo

Dave's sister visited us last weekend. Fueled by the most delicious eggs benedict ever (at Pauline's, of course), we hit the road for Mt. Philo. They hiked and I lazed around reading Gatsby — so much better than I remember it being from high school English; this movie made me think of it. Copious lounging in the sun ensued.

food roundup

I can't believe how fast June slipped by. I didn't post here even once. Work built up to this somewhat frantic pace lately — I covered a fantastic fashion exhibit for a big story a couple weeks back, and just filed the last of my stories for the newspaper's annual college guide. Whew! In the meantime, I seem to have discovered what retail therapy is all about.

And while I haven't been a very good food blogger this past month, there have been some creative kitchen endeavors — these strawberry fruit roll-ups, for starters. (I added rhubarb for a tart kick.) And this strawberry-blackberry pie ... which unfortunately came out rather soupy, but still delicious.

The biggest food highlight of late has been the institution of Wine & Cheese Wednesdays. With fruit and chips or crackers, it's like a midweek picnic. This week we tried an aged Irish cheddar and a local gouda, paired with a crisp, summery moscato.
